Windscape is a 2.5D platform game heavily inspired by the classic side-scrolling games of the SNES era. In the game you play as a sorcerer and adventurer who looks for a way to free Windwalker, his faithful goat. Your main mechanic is the ability to summon tiny wind-spirits to fulfill certain orders, such as blowing objects into a window, picking up a coin or opening a door. With a tale of a boy who accidentally discovers a secret world in the clouds and a backstory that takes place at the onset of the Industrial Age, the game has us reminiscing about the various freeware RPG's that were released on the Amiga platform all those years ago. A daydreaming atmosphere with some fantastic visuals make this game a gem in the adventure, RPG genre. The gameplay is the easiest part of the game. A map opens and you walk, run, crawl or hop your way around the various islands, towns and dungeons of a very large world. The game has a virtual "lockdown" mode that makes the game very non-traditional. You simply collect your loot and head back to the world map to look for another place to explore. Without any direction you simply take a walk or a run on your own accord. The game has a real heart and soul behind it. Unlike the huge number of game's that try to make players fall in love with the story, this one features a very simple tale and sets you in an entirely different world. The graphics of the game are vibrant and rather believable. Particularly, the water. In Windscape, you play as a boy named Nance, and after some rough times, he gets separated from his family and winds up in the town of Easthurst. From there he finds a way to the city of the clouds, Haven. In this town you'll explore a very large world map, fighting monsters and puzzles, exploring and gathering loot while there. Player interaction is extremely limited in Windscape. While you won't have hundreds of people cheering you on and whispering words of encouragement, you'll at least have some townspeople or a few NPC's shouting out advice when they see you. A very simple inventory that simply shows you money and other things you can use (broken weapons, armor, food, potions, etc.). The Game BOSS's of the game are very helpful, or at least don't kill you.
