autodesk autocad for professional is a top choice for every architectural and structural engineer. it has that real design feel for 3d modeling, and also has the ability to easily model and simulate mechanical solutions and even an ability to import and manipulate draws. it’s a robust, versatile, and affordable program.
autodesk revit is another favorite among architectural and structural engineers. it has a lot of capabilities, and you can use it for any solution whether you need 3d modeling, simulation and mechanical solutions, or even a versatile drawing package.
catia is a strong choice for design and product designers. the top 3d design capabilities include: modeling, simulation, product design, and 3d printing. it has a lot of high-end capabilities, and it is used by a lot of people for the top architectural and structural engineering firms in the world. caterpillar is a leading manufacturer and is a huge catia user.
steelframe is a program from smith & tinker that works in conjunction with other programs. if i have to use smith steelframe to get a job done, i’m going to use it. it has robust capabilities for modeling mechanical solutions, and it has an ability to import and manipulate draws.
