i liked the fact that android 11 on the pixel 3 was nowhere near the same level of refinement as the android 11 on the pixel 2s. i also like that android 12 on the pixel 3 is more refined, but isn't quite as much of a refinement as the pixel 2.

the pixel 3s connection and charging mat have been an excellent addition that is the biggest improvement on a phone that ive ever used. its a lot easier to charge the pixel 3 without accidentally dropping or knocking it.
the pixel 3's camera is a complete joy to use with super nice customizations. its just a camera that gets the most out of google photos and does it with an auto mode that is frankly near-perfect 99% of the time.
portrait mode and super res zoom still work great, but ive had occasional issues getting focus on selective photos in many apps. itll sometimes throw a white box in the middle and refuse to focus, and it remains slow and glitchy. but the vast majority of the time, it works exactly as expected. ive already noted that google maps is much better with the changes to panoramas, and having access to google maps navigation has made me less hesitant to use it in ios. the problem with google maps prior to android 12 was the lack of a physical app button to access navigation. with the inclusion of a physical button, its far easier to use. and my issues with it not recognizing my precise location with the driver assistance feature still persist, but it works a lot better on ios. android 10 was once a great phone in this regard, but google maps needs to understand your location better, and it will only get better in future versions.
notifications are easier to see, read, and respond to. not only is your favorite app always in the notification shade now, you can even set them to read aloud as you read them. check out the tutorial below on how to control what apps you can read aloud with app ops. overall, i really like material you. even as i'm sure a lot of you may have just seen the new dark look out of the box, i found myself liking it even more the longer i was using the phone. the new grid system that lets you customize the layout of the apps you use more so that they dont feel so cluttered on your screen is a big reason. the visual refresh is just as gratifying. the stock android camera app 12 is also different in some fun ways. its live filters are now all integrated into the camera app itself and are far easier to use, along with the art-like dynamic effects and photo studio to go with it, and access to the camera roll. the bokeh and focus stacks filters have been split up into two categories of zoom and focus though the app still handles the latter much the same way, however the results are far more impressive and consistent. it also has google pay built right in, and one of the best android cameras for taking photos of food ever. i liked android 11 on the pixel 3, but its always been the most uncomfortable phone out there. android 12 on the pixel 3 is much, much better, still comfortable, but a better overall experience. it also plays clips, which is something that i really liked on the pixel 3, but never got to try with the pixel 2s software. the google pixel 3 series of phones have always been exceptional phones with next-generation hardware that rarely matched the software that came with them. that hasn't changed. the pixel 3s chassis is fantastic and it can handle daily use like no other phone ive ever used. the changes with android 12 are mostly ones that google itself has been introducing for years with the pixel line, like the new lg-made camera, but they really do a great job of implementing those features and getting the most out of them. 5ec8ef588b
