windows driver installation and activation is as easy as clicking the button in the installation wizard. the installation goes fine and the driver is loaded, but upon restarting the system, the srs audio sandbox icon is not available. it should be in your system tray, but you can find it in the taskbar as well.
the interface is not that intuitive, but if you already know how to use the soundcard, you can navigate the interface easily. the first step is opening the settings. once there, click the options button. the list of all settings and their controls are displayed, including the left and right audio controls as well as the volume and equalization. there is a tab for each soundcard profile, and you can select which profile to apply by clicking on the soundcard profile on the left.
the application provides two soundcard profiles for your use. from the soundcard tab, there is an option to change the profile to either the usb or the realtek high definition audio. there is also an option to enable equalization for each profile.
while there is a lot of features, srs audio essentials is not an overly complicated application. the settings are simple and the ui is intuitive. there is the option to search the settings for specific features. for example, you can search for the application or volume level.
the application features an option to turn on the double bass boost. the double bass boost option, when turned on, will not only apply a bass boost to the left speaker, but will also boost the right speaker, if applicable. it’s best to turn on this feature when there is a lot of low-frequency bass, like music with low guitars.
