Photoshop Elements At the time this book was written, the only version available of Photoshop from Adobe was Photoshop CS6, and even then it was only for select customers. However, the program saw a rebirth with the new versions of Photoshop Elements that was first released with the version 10.0 update. This program is available for both Windows and Mac operating systems at www.adobe.com/products/photoshop.html. This book addresses the use of Photoshop Elements on the Mac. It's important to understand that Photoshop Elements is a freeware program that is stripped down from its full version. Elements includes essential editing tools that are used in basic editing. Elements also comes with the ability to import photos from various file formats. But the program doesn't have some of the advanced features or layers that Photoshop CS6 has. So if you want to edit large photos and work on more than one layer, Elements is a great option. Adobe has a learning curve when it comes to learning how to use Photoshop and Elements. Elements is much easier than using a full version of the program, especially for those new to Photoshop. Getting Your Photo Ready for Editing In the world of digital photography, several aspects need to be addressed before you try editing your images. Calibration When you take a picture, you use a setting called exposure. This refers to the amount of light being captured by your camera. Depending on what the settings are for your camera, you may capture a photo in which the edges are not exposed properly. This is known as a clipping issue. Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop Elements has a built-in feature that helps you adjust the colors in a photo if you have a clipped photo. This feature is called the White Balance feature. You can make minor adjustments to help the photo look more properly exposed. This feature is also available in Photoshop. You use it under the File menu and choose Edit⇒White Balance. The exposure slider is also on the White Balance option. Adjusting the white balance settings helps to brighten or darken the image. You have a couple of options: have your MCU send a RESET command to the CD4005 when you want to power off. You could "decide" what to do, either send a constant 0 which will keep it powered-down or send a 1 (which will keep it powered-up). Or anything in between if you want to put in your own logic. have the MCU trigger the power-down at a given time, or every time a certain condition happens.
