Taking control of the Elements interface When you download and install Photoshop Elements, you see a new interface, shown in Figure 12-1. To start your work, click the desktop icon on your computer's taskbar and Photoshop Elements opens. The window is divided into two main areas: workspace and image. I show you these areas in the following sections. **Figure 12-1:** Elements offers a workspace and an image window to help you with your work. Sharing Images The first step in taking control of Elements is to save the image you're working on. After you save the image, you can begin to manipulate it and then return to the original by opening the image again. When you open an image for the first time, you see the workspace shown in Figure 12-2. In this workspace, you can: Create new images: You can apply a filter to your image in the Filters panel. You also can use the Adjustments panel to change the way the image looks, or use a layer mask to change only a specific part of the image.
