having a new roommate is always a hassle. especially when he has a dog. it's dirty, smelly, loud, destructive, and a pain to walk. because i have a kid, i've had to find a roommate who will do all of the above, but without damaging my house or being so noisy. i found him when i met the new owner of my house. he's a dog lover. his dog was a rescue and he was very excited to have someone to show the dog off to. i had him over for dinner one night and the dog's name was hachiko. i thought it was a bit odd that the owner had a dog named after a japanese train station, but i was just going along with the joke. the next day i asked him why he named the dog hachi. he told me the dog had saved his life. it was a long story, but he ended up telling me how the dog had saved his life in the following night. he went on to tell me that the dog was already about five years old and he was about to be put down. he brought the dog home to show me how much he loved the dog and wanted him to be his last living dog. i could not believe that a dog could have that much loyalty and emotion for another living creature. from that night on, the dog and the roommate became best of friends.
the story of hachiko goes like this. hachiko was a stray akita dog who became a regular at the japanese train station that was his home. his story was that of a dog waiting for his master. the original film is very well done. the story of hachiko gets even better. it is a very well done adaptation with some great performances and a great storyline. the movie portrays the waiting at the station and the turmoil inside of the little dog's head as he waits. the movie focuses on the evolution of hachiko and how he finds a home in the train station waiting for his master. what makes this movie a really great one is that it doesn't get too emotional. it is a very light-hearted comedy and is a must watch for every dog lover. hachiko :a dogs story. everyone called hachi a mystery dog, because.. he never knew where it came from. maybe hachi escaped from a dog pound, or maybe he jumped out of somebody's car from someplace faraway like florida or new jersey. no matter how it happened, the film premiered at the toronto film festival and was one of the biggest hits of the fall movie season. after earning its share of critical acclaim, the movie went on to win a slew of awards, including an oscar for best picture for the picture's director. and the film goes beyond the movie: the hachiko statue, which is now in the national museum of japan, is also being used for a commercial campaign that makes the statue the company's most recognizable symbol. the film's biggest strength is its authenticity. hallstrom, who is from sweden, filmed much of the film in japan, allowing him to exploit the dramatic beauty of the landscape. the film has been described as a japanese love story and i guess that's pretty accurate. i'm not sure why, but it just felt right. the story is all about the depth of a dog's loyalty and the affection he has for his owner. you feel it when the dog walks with the owner on the train platform, waiting for the owner to get off. you feel it when they share their meals together, when they walk on the train platform, when they run from a storm, when they play together, when they sleep together and when they die together. the film is so beautiful, especially when the two owners and their dog are intercut with the story of hachiko and his owner. 5ec8ef588b
