At night of the third day, the barrel toppled over and spilled its contents. Hachi dug through the tracks and found Hideo's remains. Through a quarter of a year, Hachi spent looking for his master, and in a rainstorm, he found the remains of his master and started crying. The rain also brought tears to the eyes of Hideo, who thought he was dreaming, and woke up. He asked: "Am I dreaming or am I alive?" "If you are still alive, you are alive", replied Hachi. That was proof that he was not dreaming. After that, Hideo threw his vest on his back and started looking for a way to go back home.
