We feel like we live in a house that's beginning to fall apart. It feels like the river's taken our stairs out. So I'm looking at ways to stay in our house, but yet we're not really around this neighborhood.
On triumphing over fear: In 2005 there was a marriage and there was a death, so there's a lot that's changed for us over the years. We're still affected by it. We're still afraid. We have a show that's about fear and then the other side of it. And so we decided to do that show and then we decided to play festivals this summer, which we hadn't done in some time. That was scary. When we actually got on stage, we got so much positive energy that we didn't feel like we were supposed to. And it was cool to do that with the group and the idea of having all of us on stage together. And that's all we did. We didn't have to make anything up or tell anything. It was just what we were born to do. And it was nice. And so I guess our fear of doing a show together after not doing for a while was overcome by the response that we had.
On the power of art:I think that you don't really know what you are going to get. It can be amazing, it can be horrible. But you have to be a risk-taker. I think the risk is in doing art.

It was a sunny, summer day in Seattle when I joined them for their first Bonnaroo set in a little field in the shade of a pine tree in a meadow. Outside of the crowd of about 6,000 people jamming to the beat of the music, people were drinking and making art with the mud they were muddling up on the ground.
