While the quality of lightroom shines, it lacks a more robust photo editing and selection tool. Though the camera features of lightroom are a plus, it lacks one of the industry’s leading features – good selection tools – which should be a component of any photography app. It has some good, quirky features but, in the end, lightroom just does not have the selection and editing tools needed to compete with other Photoshop alternatives. Switching back to Photoshop is just not worth it for me. I will stick to Photoshop Elements.
That said, Lightroom is still a very powerful tool and doesn’t have any significant issues. Moreover, many of my friends find lightroom to be a wonderful addition to their computer and cameras, and its free! If you feel that you just can not live without a good selection tool, I would recommend exploring the free features of lightroom.
