Alright so I downloaded the crack provided by the link in the forums. I have no idea what the serial number is so I just entered the serial number thats on the game. I installed the crack and game and when I try to start the game it just makes my computer fan ramp up faster than normal. I get this message: Please put in valid shogun 2 serial number first. I read somewhere that you need to install the game to get the serial number so that's what I did. Is that the problem?
I installed this dll patch, but it doesn't work. It just copies itself into Steam's game folder without any changes to the game. It seems like it didn't download anything, except steam.exe. Maybe a fix to this would be to put the new exe into the first disc, with all the other.sim files. I would be happy if this worked, but like I said, it doesn't. I even made sure to download/install the latest build. If you download version 1.5 from http://www.moddb.com/forums/showthread.php?t=120628 and try to run it on Steam, it's the exact same thing.
I'm going to assume this was posted by the same person that uploaded the crack.1.4.3.zip to mediamonkey because when I uploaded that crack I didn't include the crack I downloaded off of the mod db and had the link as a stand-alone copy of the crack. I had it installed and it worked flawlessly, but its a lot harder to distribute that way. However, if you uploaded your crack to mediamonkey then I can't figure out how to get a direct link to my moddb post. So if you uploaded the crack then I'm assuming you downloaded it and then uploaded it. Well, I can't upload it again because it was a stand-alone copy. If you go to the cracked section of my post, you'll see the links to the release for each version of shogun 2. Try installing the 1.4.3 version using the link posted on the mod db page, however use the link I posted as the link will be updated.
