While the Calman ColorChecker is excellent for calibrating individual points within a range of color saturation, the display had a tendency to step out of sRGB. I checked both CALMAN 5 and CalmanU, and both determined the display to be accurate. Some of the colors were not very saturated, which is to be expected. I found that in comparison to the setup of Pioneer OLED > RearBox > Potog, the minimum PAL brightness for the HU710 was no where near as bright, but the gamma performance was perfect on the Calman display. The white balance in Calman 5 appeared to be a little off when viewing at its brightest as well. The Calman display was more accurate, but lacked the color accuracy, so I decided to calibrate it in Calman 5 and use the CalmanU to keep things consistent. From the point of an enthusiast using a display in the sRGB color scheme, this is a great display with very accurate colors, and hit PQ levels that did not impact the picture. Being able to have PQ between the display and projector was very helpful.
When the calibration process was complete, I then tested the display using the Calman 5 calibration software. I observed some of the same results as CalmanU. The overall display was quite vibrant, no bright spots, and the grayscale was very accurate and even. CMS was within target with saturation. The medium saturation orange was not as saturated as I anticipated. Looking at large areas of orange, the adjustment had not been made to be as saturated as it should be in that color. Having this display in sRGB and using Calman 5 was quite the experience. Going back to CalmanU was very helpful. It was smoother, the calibration was more intuitive, and I achieved a more accurate result.
After calibration, the CalMan5 was measuring a Pixel Response Time of 12.21 ms, Core Gamma of 1.079, Gamma of 0.962, Core Luminance of 2592, and Luminance of 5907. These are all excellent results. The display can be properly calibrated, and is very accurate in all color gradations.
