the easiest way to get the signal out is to use a switch or splitter. i have the same problem and just bought a splitter and got it working with my tv! my tv has an hdmi in and an hdmi out. i have a splitter that takes the hdmi in and outputs hdmi in and hdmi out. i connected one of the cables to the switch and then connected the other cable to my tv. it works great. you will need to use hdmi cables from the switch to your tv. most of the hdmi cables use the same plugs. you will need to have the cable that is connected to the switch go into the switch. if you have a splitter or switch that has an s-video out you can just use that.

i have directv and some time last year, a change was made which caused this message to appear: your tv does not support this programs content protection. replacing the tvs hdmi cable with component cables will allow you to view the program. this is only when you have both the hdmi and component cable connection (av out) utilized at the same time. the message only appears on the component output not the hdmi. my component output goes into an atlona comp500 converter which outputs an s-video signal for the panasonic dvd recorder. the hdmi goes into a sony tv about six years old. regular sd channels are not affected, only hd. i had read somewhere that using a splitter might work for this problem and it did. i took the directv hdmi output into the splitter input, the directv component output into the atlona, then the hdmi 1 output into the television and the error message was gone when viewing from the panasonic dvd recorder. switching channels while watching directly from the television or through the dvd recorder did not make a difference. i have my directv resolution set as native so that the picture is shown in its regular format as opposed to an upscaled one. there is a slight delay here sometimes and others have mentioned that this could be a problem with the hdcp handshake. i did power on the splitter first before turning on the television and satellite box. the hdmi 2 output was not used. use a hdmi splitter or converter (not a hdcp splitter) to split an hdmi cable going to your television. the idea is that you want to split the hdmi signal to your tv into two separate hdmi cables. for example, you can split the hdmi signal from your directv genie mini box into two hdmi cables: one goes to a tv, the other to a second tv, dvd player, game console, etc. you don't need to set the split ratio, you can leave it at 1:1, or for example, you can leave the ratio at 1:2 to provide two separate outputs. as long as you have two hdmi cables you can use an hdmi splitter to split the signal. this is a useful feature for hdcp-enabled equipment. 5ec8ef588b
