Agent Cody Banks is a 2003 film directed by Harald Zwart and distributed by Universal Pictures. It stars Frankie Muniz.
The movie begins with an introductory speech by the president in which he announces the formation of Team Zeta, a covert, off-the-books agency in the middle of post-9/11 America. The president also congratulates his executive agent, a young teenager named Cody Banks.
The operative designation was a reference to an episode of the animated series The Transformers in which a similar cover was used by the Autobots to infiltrate a terrorist group.
Cody Banks (Frankie Muniz) is assigned to this mission, to infiltrate the group of radicals known as the Light and become a member. He struggles with the task, resenting his assigned status and arguing that the agency should use more conventional means to prevent terrorism.
However, others support the president, including his speechwriter, Cassidy, a young blond girl who claims that the president is doing the right thing.
The film addresses several questions about contemporary American society: Does the United States need a special agency like Team Zeta? ; Does foreign policy depend on spying on civilians? ; Is superhuman force ever legitimate?
The premise of the movie is that the protagonist is an agent under the guise of a teenager, and most of the story is told through the eyes of the agent. However, the roles are reversed for flashbacks, which show the agent's history as a child and reveal many of the events that formed him.
But Cody has a secret - he's actually part of a secret undercover teen CIA program.
Friends, Cody Banks is a typical teen - he loves to skateboard, hates math homework, and has a skewed sense of justice.
But when he is recruited by the CIA to work undercover to infiltrate a radical group and thwart an impending terrorist attack, he begins to think like a spy.
He soon finds himself pursuing a fascinating lead, falling in love with a beautiful CIA operative, and revealing a secret about his past that could get both of them killed.
