There is not a standard way to handle an ocx add-on. Unfortunately, it is not suggested to use the registry method because of the potential problems. When you first install RRU_Calendar, it registers the DLL in the system directory. The OICX files are not added to the registry, since the add-on is not installed. You will have to add the OICX files manually to the add-ons list. The instructions for doing this can be found below.
This is why this FAQ is so important. The DLL does not know that the ocx has been installed. One way to make this happen would be to put an entry in the registry. But, we don't want to risk user data, so we will not do that. The other option would be to have the add-on prompt the user to install the DLL. But, we don't want to add two registry keys for the DLL. The third option would be to install the OICX files to the same directory as the DLL.
I am interested to know if anyone knows how to install the ocx file to the right directory to prevent the dll from fiddling with the ocx file. It did remove one file before it added the other two.
