Part of the "Skylander Trilogy", Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure is a 3D platformer video game developed by Vicarious Visions and published by Activision Publishing, Inc. for the PlayStation 3, Wii, and Xbox 360 platforms. It is the sixth video game in the Skylanders franchise, and the franchise's fourth platformer game. The game was announced in July 2012.[4] The game's protagonist is a purple, flame-emitting dragon named Spyro.[5] Development was primarily handled by Vicarious Visions and also included Team Chameleon, Skylanders: Trap Team developers. The game was released on November 16, 2012.[6] It received generally positive reviews, including an 8.5/10 from IGN.[7]
Once the greatest Dragon, Spyro journeyed to Skylands to cure the illness that was attacking its vegetation, only to be faced with the new threat of the Evil Galvatrons. His best friend, the Green Dragon Kaos, emerges as the adversary. Collecting all Skylanders figures to unlock the Magic Core pieces, which reverts the entire game to a single screen level for a boss battle with Kaos.
After defeating Kaos, breaking the Magic Core loses the universe and the villains return. Master Eon, in trying to save a corrupted area him with the magic of the core, is exiled and only Spyro has the ability to defeat them. Spyro frees mankind from the evil Galvatrons, only to be exiled along with the Skylanders. He finds the Galactic Tower, where his friend Kaos tells him that he is to return to Earth. He is confronted by the evil dragon Drakon, sealed into the Earth's core in punishment for the destruction of the universe. With the Galactic Tower, he is able to break Drakon from his prison and travels to Earth to save the portal and his friends.
A serious of earthquakes across the globe in Kaos' location force strong, diggable areas of Earth to breach, a portal to the Skylands is opened, and Drakon, freed from prison, attacks the portal.
