Fight of Animals: Original Sound Tracks Collection (F.O.A.S.T. Records) is the only compilation LP to completely feature all 15 tracks from the original Fight of Animals compilation E-P (F.O.A.S.T. Records), all ten tracks that would eventually appear on The Boxtops EP (F.O.A.S.T. Records) and a cover of Roger Waters' Blood of the Lamb (F.O.A.S.T. Records).
Background: The first compilation album ever released by F.O.A.S.T. Records is the only one of the original single compilations to contain tracks from every title, released through the record label, from the catalog (Fight of Animals, The Boxtops EP, and The Instrumentals). F.O.A.S.T. Records were a label founded by Queen drummer and lyricist/producer/composer John Deacon in collaboration with former Queen guitarist Brian May and keyboardist Martin Jackson to focus on new music inspired by Queen. It was named after the song title from The Musical, The Boxtops (1988). The F.O.A.S.T. label would be inspired by the music industry terminology used during the 1960s and 1970s, say for its vintage or modern collection, compilation, concept album, box set and score.
Fight of Animals: Original Sound Tracks Collection (F.O.A.S.T. Records) is unique in that it was designed to be both visually iconic and a promotion for the first ever F.O.A.S.T. Compilation Series. Inspired by the LP Fight of Animals (1987) and the EP The Boxtops (1988), the cover of Fight of Animals: Original Sound Tracks Collection (F.O.A.S.T. Records) and its title are designed to resemble that of the first compilations by the F.O.A.S.T. record label, though they are many years later. Also, the embossed 'Orange Heart Award' label on the album cover is a nod to the award received in 1989 by The Boxtops for their single Orange Juice, which was compiled on the LP Odds Against Tomorrow (1989).
